Beginning this week, homework will be interactive and will align with the objectives for the week. Future assignments will be posted on the blog each week, and will be written in a simpler form than what you will read below. Please don't hesitate to ask questions regarding this new format.
SPELLING HOMEWORK
Spelling homework will be done on Spelling City. Your child will have a username and password and can access this website wherever they are. It is very easy to use and your child will eventually navigate the website independently.
Go to the following web address:
https://www.spellingcity.com/CashReads/
On this page you will see the web address, menu bar, vocabulary and spelling activities, and recommended links which are games for extra practice in multiple subjects.
Under activities, you will find the Week 10 Spelling and Vocabulary lists. The vocabulary is a list that goes along with this week's Imagine It story, Tell Me, Tree. It is optional, but it's good practice for learning definitions and parts of speech that will be assessed on Friday.
If you click on My Records on the menu bar...
...you will see your child's activities that you can save.
You can explore Recommended Links for games to review and enrich skills.
For homework, click on Week 10 Spelling games which will take you to the following screen.
These are the activities that you will choose from to complete homework.
The following format for
spelling will be similar each week:
|
Monday and Tuesday - Choose 1-2 activities from the SPELLING category
to do for homework.
You are more than welcome to choose more than one activity for practice.
Wednesday - under the WRITING category,
click on Sentence Writing and choose at least
5 words from the spelling list and type a sentence for each.
You are more than welcome to write a sentence for each word to sharpen your writing skills.
Thursday - Go back to the
home page and click on Week 10 S-Test to practice for
Friday's test.
I will not use this as a grade. |
MATH HOMEWORK
Math homework will vary according to the objective that is assigned for the week.
This week, we are continuing with measuring so on Monday and Tuesday I have attached math worksheets that are perfect for reteaching, practice, and enrichment.
The upper right-hand corner of the worksheet will be labeled with these terms.
The practice sheet is a good review from what is taught in class. OPTIONAL - I included the reteaching and enrichment page so you can differentiate instruction at home.
Monday
Tuesday
You may use a ruler instead of "centimeter cubes".
